Dog Cremation
Have you thought about dog cremation?
Unfortunately,
at
some
time
or
another,
we are all faced with what to do with our
beloved pets when they pass away. This is a hard subject to discuss for
some of us, myself included. But as you watch your dogs age, you know
that one of these days you will need to make a very important decision.
They seem to age so quickly, as their time on this earth is really very
short. And if they become ill, sometimes they go down hill very, very
quickly.
For
me,
cremation is
the only choice, because the thought of possibly
moving from this house and leaving my dearest pets remains behind, not
knowing how they might be treated later on, makes me uncomfortable.
Let's face it, sometimes we have a very strong bond with our dogs. And
the thought of leaving them behind is unthinkable!
Pet
Gravesite
So
many
of
us
have
little
or no back yards to have a small pet grave site,
but you can probably place a marker for remembrance. Then when you have
your pet cremated, you have the remains in an urn that you can display
or keep privately for your eyes only.
Pet
Cremation
Pet
cremation
is
not
as
unusual
as it once was. You are no longer thought
of as weird if you choose to do this. You want to be treated with
respect and dignity when making the arrangements. You should research
for a pet crematory in your
area. When my oldest dog passed away last year, I choose to have him
cremated. The pet crematory that I took him to is set up much like a
funeral home. Beautiful surroundings, soft music, caring staff. I was
given information on coping with the loss of a pet and also a prayer
book. This is never an easy time.
There
are pet loss training seminars
offered by the International Association of Pet Crematories and
the Association of Pet Loss and Bereavement. This is a compassionate
organization dedicated to helping those of us who seek grief counseling
through its chatroom talk and personal email assistance. Sometimes, it
can be a rather long road to over coming the loss of our dear
companions.
Please
make
sure
that
the
services
are handled properly if your vet does the
cremation for you.
Learn
as
much
as
you
can
about the services provided and the expenses
involved. Ask questions about the procedures and research the options
for disposition of your pets. And remember, this is a service for all
pets, large or small, not just dogs or cats. Horses and llamas, too!
Check
it
out.
This
maybe
the
most comforting of options for you in your time
of grief.
I miss the wagging little tail,
I miss the plaintive, pleading wail;
I miss the wistful, loving glance;
I miss the circling, welcome dance!
